The Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) programs support women to identify transferable skills and explore various career and employment opportunities. Women's Network PEI is pleased to be offering two FREE programs this year, Propelle and Trade HERizons. Learn more about these programs below, or, if you are already familiar with them:

Propelle - A life skills and employment readiness program

Propelle

Propelle is a life skills and employment readiness program that focuses on traditionally male careers. You will hear from employers, guest speakers and mentors in various fields and visit Holland College to explore various program and careers available.

Propelle will help you:

  • Build your confidence
  • Resolve conflicts
  • Identify employment barriers
  • Work in a group
  • Get involved in your community
  • Improve your wellness

Propelle Eligibility:

  • Women between the ages 22-45 (with flexibility) whom have experienced one or more of the following: limited attachment to the workforce, lack of confidence, intergenerational poverty, addiction issues, abuse, family violence, limited education, mental and physical health challenges, and lone parents with limited supports
  • Women who desire to address/reduce their barriers and whom would benefit from structure, guidance and a support network
  • Women who have a desire and aptitude to work in traditionally male sectors
  • Women who have lived on PEI for at least 3 months
  • Women who are on EI, are working 20 hr/wk or less, are on social assistance or have no income
  • Women who can commit to full time programming

Trade HERizons — a career exploration and college preparation program

Trade HERizons

Trade HERizons is a career exploration and college preparation program with a focus on trades and technology careers. You will experience hands-on learning opportunities with Holland College, meet mentors and tour with employers in industry. You will enhance your life skills and focus on labour market research, resumes, interviews, math and team building.

Trade HERizons Eligibility:

  • Women aged 22-45 (with flexibility) who have completed their grade 12 year, either through high school or through a GED.
  • Women who have a desire and aptitude to work in trades and technology sectors.
  • Women who have lived on PEI for at least 3 months.
  • Women who are on EI, are working 20 hr/wk or less, are on social assistance or have no income.
  • Women who can commit to full time programming
  • Women who are ready to make change in their lives through exploring new career options.

Acceptance for all WEE Programming requires:

  • Eligibility
  • Filled-in and submitted application form
  • Interview with Women's Network PEI
  • Employment Assistance Services support
  • Skills PEI approval
