The goal of this initiative is to
address the sexual and reproductive health issues of Island youth by
working with partners to use our strategic plan and research to move the
policy process to action.
The objectives of this initiative are:
- to continue to enlarge our provincial network of
partners and advocates of youth sexual health policy development with
particular attention to youth, parents, health and education
professionals and policy makers,
- to provide a communication bridge between the target
audience and policy makers from community organizations and government
sectors across PEI,
- to facilitate a consultation process designed to
inform policy alternatives with the target audience and policy makers,
and
- to communicate consultation findings and resulting
sexual health policy alternatives to policy makers.
This project will meet the following priorities of the
Population Health Fund by:
- assisting the community in understanding and
communicating the public policy issue related to youth sexual health and
public policy alternatives,
- developing collaborative relationships between
community groups and the government for policy development, and
- developing and strengthening networks that enhance
our capacity to influence public policy development.
