The goal of this initiative will
be to conduct research that informs the strategic direction of "physical
environment" for vulnerable populations of youth regarding sexual and
reproductive health through an upstream approach by influencing public
policy.
The objectives of this initiative are:
- by conducting best practices research that informs
the strategic direction of "physical environment" for vulnerable
populations of youth in developing public policy related to sexual and
reproductive health,
- by conducting a symposium with vulnerable populations
of youth that informs the strategic direction of "physical environment"
in developing public policy on sexual and reproductive health, and
- by presenting the best practices research and the
symposium findings to senior policy advisors in the Department of Health
and Social Services on Prince Edward Island and by disseminating to
their Atlantic counterparts.
This project will meet two priorities of the Population
Health Fund:
- to increase the knowledge base for future program and
policy development, and
- to increase partnerships and develop intersectoral
collaboration.
The project’s goal and objectives will "develop
knowledge for public policy on vulnerable populations in the Region,...
specifically knowledge on the sexual and reproductive health issues of
these populations, and will extend the work on sexual and reproductive
health issues beyond the health arena to the economic, social, employment,
justice, heritage and physical environment sectors." Even though the work
of this project is to conducted on PEI, it has direct regional and
national applicability.
