under the Act. These women include:
teenaged new mothers
women with little education
low income women
single mothers
immigrant women
visible minority women
Aboriginal women
women with disabilities
12% of female immigrants and 19% of recent
female immigrants, aged 25-44, were unable
to find employment in 1996, compared with
just 9% of Canadian-born women aged 25-
