This initiative will aim to address the current climate for women on Prince Edward Island, in relation to social justice, with a specific focus on Family Law Legal Aid.

Goal #1:
To continue to build and strengthen the Women's Coalition of PEI through information dissemination and consultations.

Goal #2:
The Women's Coalition of PEI, in partnership with relevant experts, will create a strategic plan to work collaboratively towards achieving policy and legislative changes pertaining to the Family Law Legal Aid system for women on PEI.

Objectives:

1. Coalition Building:

We will continue to build and strengthen the PEI Women's Coalition through information dissemination and consultation.

2. Partnership Building:

We will seek out officials, experts, women victims of violence, resource people and policy makers (i.e. Community Services and the Attorney General) with a specific interest in seeing changes to PEI's Family Law Legal Aid system.

3. Consultation Process:

Through regular Steering Committee, a two-day consultation process will be developed to create the strategic plan for addressing Family Law Legal Aid issues on PEI.

4. Recommendations for Policy and Legislation:

As a result of the consultation process, key recommendations will be made to the Provincial Government to address policy and legislative changes related to Family Law Legal Aid on PEI.
